Dogs in Sydney, the short version

Which Sydney beaches are off-leash?

Kurnell Dog Beach and the Greenhills Beach zone are the main off-leash sand in the south. Most harbour beaches are on-lead, so the fenced parks (ELS Hall, Bayview) carry the fetch work.

Can dogs go on ferries or trains?

No ferries for dogs, and trains only for assistance animals - Sydney's dog transport is the car. Plan beach days around parking, not the Opal card.

Are cafe courtyards fair game?

Outdoors only under the health rules - footpath and courtyard seating is where dogs belong, and most dog-friendly venues make it obvious with bowls by the tables.
