What visitors mention
The Bicentennial Coastal Walk loops around Long Reef headland between Collaroy and Dee Why, a roughly 3km return route with panoramic ocean views, connecting bush track and paved clifftop path. It links directly to Griffith Park, so it is easy to combine a leashed headland walk with an off-leash run either side.
The walk. The trail starts as a sealed path near Griffith Park and transitions to dirt track as it rounds the headland, roughly 3km return with clifftop sections and no major climbs.
Leash status. Dogs must stay on a leash along the coastal walk and all paths around the headland. Griffith Park, just off Anzac Avenue, is the nearby off-leash option before or after the walk. Dogs are not permitted on the sand at Long Reef Beach, Collaroy Beach, or Dee Why Beach, so this is a headland and path walk rather than a beach walk.
Watch-outs. The path is exposed with limited shade for most of its length, so carry water for your dog, especially in summer. Sections near the reef can be dangerous in high swell or at high tide if you stray off the formed track.
Getting there. Turn off Pittwater Road onto Anzac Avenue in Collaroy; free parking is at the Collaroy Tennis Club car park, which leads straight into Griffith Park and the start of the walk. B-Line buses on Pittwater Road stop a short walk from the trailhead.
Nearby with the dogs. Ciao Bella and Butterbox Cafe both welcome dogs outdoors and sit close to either end of the walk, useful for a coffee stop before or after.

Go early morning or late afternoon on weekends to beat the crowds, and if you're visiting between May and November keep an eye on the horizon, since this stretch is a solid whale-watching spot too.
