The Glebe Hotel

The Glebe Hotel is a classic corner pub at 63 Bay Street, Glebe, and one of the inner west's genuinely dog-friendly pubs rather than a token one. Leashed dogs are welcome inside the front public bar as well as the leafy beer garden, so a rainy night does not automatically kill the plan, and the bar keeps water bowls and dog treats on hand.

The dog setup

Leashed dogs are permitted in the public bar and the beer garden or courtyard, and they must stay on the leash the whole time. Water bowls are provided in the beer garden and treats live behind the bar. If your dog prefers space to settle, take the courtyard; if they are social and calm, the public bar and its fireplace are the cosier winter option. The bar can run busy during dinner service, so keep the lead short and the dog under your table. There is no dog-friendly accommodation on site.

The food and the vibe

This is a food-first pub: the Sunday roast, the beef and Guinness pie and the mulled wine in winter are the standing orders, with live music and community events like The Men's Table filling the calendar. It is a neighbourhood local more than a destination bar, which suits dog owners, and it trades from 11am daily with slightly later openings on weekends.

Getting there and parking

The pub sits on Bay Street in the middle of Glebe. Street parking runs along Bay Street and side streets like Wentworth Street, but time restrictions are strict around here, so read the signs, especially on weekends. Bus stops on Broadway and Bay Street are a short walk, and the light rail to Jubilee Park or Rozelle Bay stations puts you within walking distance.

Close by with the dogs

The paths around Fig Lane Park make an easy on-leash leg-stretcher, and the Glebe foreshore walks toward Blackwattle Bay are a few minutes further for city views. For a pre-pub coffee, Quarry St Cafe in Ultimo and R Cafe & Restaurant in Camperdown are both dog-friendly, and Gardener's Lodge Cafe covers a garden-side lunch.
