Quarry St Cafe

Quarry St Cafe is a small, well-reviewed corner cafe on Quarry Street in Ultimo, run by a friendly local family and known for generous home-style food. Dogs are welcome to join you at the street-side outdoor tables while you eat, which makes it a natural stop on a loop from the nearby parklands.

Worth knowing

The kitchen leans Mediterranean for a suburban-style cafe: lamb kofta and falafel wraps are the signatures, alongside bacon and egg wraps, croissants, chicken schnitzel, fresh salads and solid coffee. Portions are generous and the family-run service is what regulars come back for. It opens early, from 6am, and runs through to the early afternoon; hours have shifted between listings over time, so check the current closing time before planning a late stop.

Getting there and parking

The cafe sits at 101 Quarry Street, near the Harris Street corner, close to the Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre and Broadway Shopping Centre. Street parking along Quarry Street and surrounding streets is a mix of free and paid, and as ever in Ultimo it pays to walk in if you are close.

Close by with the dogs

Wentworth Park is a five to seven minute walk for a run before or after coffee, and Fig Lane Park is close by for a quick break. If you want to keep walking, the Pyrmont to Darling Harbour foreshore walk starts just across the peninsula, and Quick Brown Fox Eatery in Pyrmont is another dog-friendly option for the return leg.
