Homage is a specialty coffee bar at Shop 1, 71-73 George Street, right in the Parramatta CBD. The coffee is the headline act, backed by a tight food menu of jaffles, toasties and breakfast plates, and for dog owners the setup is refreshingly simple: a row of footpath tables on George Street where leashed dogs are welcome to settle in beside you. It opens early on weekdays, which makes it a genuine morning-walk destination rather than a late-brunch one.

The dog setup

Dogs join you at the outdoor footpath seating along George Street. The indoor space is not for dogs, so plan your visit around the street-level tables. The team has a reputation for being warm with guests of every species, and baristas will generally sort out a water bowl if you ask, though bringing your own is the safer play on a busy morning. It is a busy CBD footpath, so a dog who is comfortable with passing foot traffic and pram traffic will have the better time.

Worth knowing

The coffee program rotates through quality roasters, with batch brew and single-origin filters alongside the usual espresso menu, and plenty of alternative milks. The jaffles are the cult items: a prawn jaffle and a cheeseburger jaffle get most of the attention, with rotating toasties in support. On the breakfast side, the chilli scrambled eggs are a regular order. Weekday service runs from 6:30am, Saturdays from 8am, and the cafe is closed Sundays, so it is a Monday-to-Saturday spot. Hours shorten to 2:30pm or 2pm, so plan for a morning rather than an afternoon visit.

Getting there and parking

Homage is walking distance from Parramatta train station and the bus interchange, which is the easiest way in with a dog. Street parking on George Street is limited and tightly timed; paid parking is more reliable in the council and commercial car parks nearby, including ones on George and O'Connell Streets.

Pair it with

The river is your best post-coffee walk: the Parramatta River trail picks up near the station and runs flat and shady towards Meadowbank. If your dog needs a proper off-lead run first, the fenced dog park at Dan Mahoney Reserve is a short drive north. For a second coffee stop, Social Hideout is also in the Parramatta mix.
