What visitors mention
Shale Hills Fenced Dog Park in West Hoxton is a five-hectare off-leash facility inside Western Sydney Parklands, and one of the largest purpose-built dog parks in the region. It's split into separate zones for large dogs and for small or shy dogs, with an agility circuit and a sensory garden thrown in, so it's built for a proper run rather than a quick stop.
The rules: The park is open to walkers 24/7, but the vehicle gate to the car park runs 6am to 6pm (8pm during daylight saving), so plan around that if you're driving. Dogs must be on a leash entering and leaving the fenced off-leash area, and under effective control at all times once inside. Dogs on heat and registered dangerous dogs aren't permitted. Poo bags are supplied, and cleaning up is mandatory.
What's there: A 10-station self-guided agility and training circuit, a sensory garden planted with lavender and mint, water fountains for dogs and people, and a shaded terrace with umbrellas and seating. There are no public toilets on site, so sort that before you arrive.
Getting there: The entrance is at Second Ave and Mannow Ave, West Hoxton, with a free 70-space car park right by the gates. Public transport is limited this far into the parklands, so driving is the practical option.

Nearby with the dogs: Carnes Hill Marketplace, a short drive away, has cafes for a coffee once your dog's had its run. Hoxton Park and Carnes Hill more broadly have a handful of local options too, though it's worth confirming outdoor seating suits dogs before you commit.
Weekend mornings and late weekday afternoons are the busiest, so if you want the run of the place, aim for a weekday mid-morning before the vehicle gate closes.
