Cirillo Reserve Fenced Dog Park

Cirillo Reserve's fenced dog park on Stante Close is Middleton Grange's off-leash enclosure, open around the clock under Liverpool City Council and one of the better-lit options in Sydney's south west for a run after dark. Strong night lighting makes it a practical winter pick when most parks have gone dark by dinner.

The dog setup

Secure wire fencing wraps the run, entered through a double-gated airlock: close the first gate before opening the second and nobody slips out. Inside there is a water fountain with an integrated bowl, sheltered seating, a sandpit for diggers and a small sensory sniffing garden that gives noses a job between laps. Off-leash applies only inside the fence; leads go on across the wider reserve.

Owners supervise at all times, clean up immediately and remove any dog showing aggression. Dangerous, menacing or restricted-breed dogs are not permitted in the off-leash area.

Worth knowing

Max: check both airlock gates are shut before letting your dog off leash. Double gates only work if you use them properly, every single time.

Public toilets and a barbecue area sit nearby in the broader reserve, and a dedicated car park beside the enclosure makes the whole visit short. The reserve's family precinct also runs to playgrounds and a water play area, so it doubles as a school-holiday stop. Small to medium dogs get the most out of the space, though larger dogs use it too.

Getting there and parking

The car park sits right beside the reserve on Stante Close, so it is an easy stop by car. Local buses run on nearby streets, but most visitors drive. Expect the biggest crowds on weekday evenings from about 5pm to 6.30pm and on weekend mornings; weekday mornings and early afternoons are quieter.

While you're out there

Middleton Grange itself is thin on dog-friendly dining, but Middleton Brew is a local coffee stop for the walk home. If you want a bigger session afterwards, the cafe strips of Carnes Hill and Hoxton Park sit a short drive away.
