Sydney Park

Sydney Park is one of inner Sydney's big off-lead spaces, with rolling grassy hills, wetlands and old brick kilns on the Erskineville border. The City of Sydney manages it, and its official suburbs are St Peters and Alexandria.

Leads and the off-lead area

Large parts of the park are off lead at all times. Other zones are on lead, and dogs are banned from the wetlands, the playgrounds and the cycling centre.

Watch the signs as you move between areas. The wetland edges are the easiest place to slip up.

The walk

Sealed concrete and asphalt paths loop over the hills, with some unsealed and grass sections. Waterbirds crowd the wetlands and the brick kilns stand out on the skyline.

Water bubblers and dog bowls sit along the main paths, and bins are frequent. Mature trees give shade, but the open hills can be hot.

Parking is off Sydney Park Road and the Princes Highway, with street parking nearby.

When to go

It is a busy, social park, so it suits well-socialised dogs. On hot days, stick to the shaded areas and skip the bare hilltops.
