Mrs Isabella Hills Rest Area is a small City of Sydney park on Harold Street in Newtown, a quiet neighbourhood pocket that doubles as a 24-hour off-leash spot. It is handy if you live nearby or want to break a King Street walk with a proper off-lead run, not a place to drive across town for.

The dog setup

Dogs are permitted off-leash within the park at all times, which puts it in the more generous tier of Sydney's off-leash spaces. The trade-off is that the area is unfenced, so voice control needs to be real before the lead comes off, and eyes stay on the path traffic passing through the park.

Harold Street is a short walk from Newtown station and the King Street bus routes, which is how most visitors arrive. Street parking is limited to residential spots on Harold Street and the surrounding streets, so the train or a bus is the low-stress option.
