Enmore Fenced Dog Park

Enmore Fenced Dog Park sits on the corner of James and Simmons Streets, a fully fenced, gated and tree-lined off-leash space open 24 hours a day. The single entrance and sandy, shaded ground make it one of the more reliable inner west options for owners who want their dog properly secure while it runs.

The dog setup

Inner West Council runs the park as off-leash inside the fenced boundary, with dogs on-leash before you enter and after you leave. There is only one entrance and exit, so keep it shut behind you and watch it when others come and go. Inside, the ground is sandy with mature trees giving reasonable shade, water bowls, dog waste bags and disposal bins are provided on site, and the park is wheelchair accessible. Owners are expected to supervise at all times and clean up straight away.

Max: only one gate in and out means it is easy to miss a dog slipping past you when someone else opens it. Hang back a second before you let yours through.

Worth knowing

The sandy base can turn muddy in patches after heavy rain, so expect the odd dirty paw. Crowds peak in the early mornings and late afternoons on weekdays, with weekend mornings moderate to busy; mid-week, the middle of the day is usually quiet, which suits a nervous or older dog that would rather avoid the scrum. The park has a friendly, social regular crowd, typical of a small inner west yard where everyone knows everyone's dog.

Getting there and parking

Street parking around James Street and Simmons Street is limited, so arrive early if you are driving. The park is an easy walk from Stanmore Station, and several bus routes run along nearby Enmore Road, making it a realistic walk-in park for most of the inner west.

Close by with the dogs

Other fenced runs are close: Sydenham Green Fenced Dog Park and Tempe Dog Park by the Cooks River. Enmore Road and King Street in Newtown are a short walk away with a good run of dog-friendly cafes, including Skinny Dippers Cafe.
