Erko Pocket Park

Erko Pocket Park is a small, 24/7 off-leash green patch at 194 George Street in Erskineville, squeezed between houses right on the street. It will not take long to explore, but as a City of Sydney off-leash spot it is a handy leg-stretch for locals and anyone passing through the neighbourhood.

The dog setup

Off-leash is allowed at all hours, but there is no fencing and the park opens directly onto George Street, so this is strictly a park for dogs who come back when called. Dogs with patchy recall are safer kept on the lead the whole time, which the park still suits well for a sniff around.

The kit is basic: a patch of natural grass, a water bubbler with a dog-friendly height, and a bench or two for owners. There are no shade structures and no bins beyond what sits on the street, so bring your own bags and take them with you.

Max: no fence and a road on the doorstep means this one is for dogs who come back when called, or stay on the lead.

Worth knowing

Treat this as a quick stop rather than a destination walk. It works well for small, settled dogs, a toilet break on the way somewhere else, or locals who live around the corner. Street parking only means anyone driving in will circle for a spot, and the foot traffic along George Street is constant enough that an easily distracted dog will be busy.

Getting there and parking

The park sits on George Street, Erskineville NSW 2043, a short walk from Erskineville Station and the King Street end of Newtown. Coming by car means street parking in the surrounding blocks, which is typical Inner West hunting, so most people arrive on foot.
