What visitors mention
Tempe Dog Park sits inside Tempe Recreation Reserve on Holbeach Avenue, a fully fenced, floodlit off-leash area that runs 24 hours a day and is one of the busier dog parks in Sydney's Inner West. It is split into two separate enclosures, one for small dogs and one for large, which makes it a solid option if your dog is nervous around bigger breeds.
The rules. Dogs can run off-leash only inside the fenced zones, both of which are double-gated to stop accidental escapes. Leash up everywhere else in the reserve. Owners need to keep control of their dog at all times, and clean up immediately, bringing your own bags as backup since on-site supply is not guaranteed.
What's there. Both the small and large dog sections are securely fenced with double-gate entries. There's a water fountain for dogs, shaded seating for owners, and public toilets on site. Floodlighting means it stays usable well after dark.
Getting there. There is a dedicated car park right next to the reserve on Holbeach Avenue, so driving in is straightforward. Tempe train station is about a 10 to 15 minute walk away if you're coming by train. The park is wheelchair accessible.
Nearby with the dogs. Good Days Cafe and several other dog-friendly cafes line the Princes Highway nearby, and there are more options over in Wolli Creek, including some pet-friendly hotels if you need to stay over. Worth calling ahead to confirm current pet policy for any accommodation.

Weeknights, especially Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings, plus Sunday evenings, are the busiest times. Tuesday mornings and Wednesday afternoons are noticeably quieter, and weekends are popular but not overwhelming. Good for dogs that need a proper off-leash sprint in a secure, well-lit setup any time of day.
