Cahill Park Fenced Dog Park

Cahill Park Fenced Dog Park is a fully fenced, double-gated off-leash area on the Cooks River foreshore in Wolli Creek, open 24/7 and busy enough with regulars that it's a genuine social hub for local dogs.

The rules. Dogs must be leashed entering and exiting through the double gates, and off-leash only once inside the fence. You need to be able to control your dog by voice or lead at all times. Aggressive or antisocial behaviour means removing your dog immediately. Clean up after your dog, bins are provided. Keep at least 10 metres from the playground and food areas.

What's there. Grass and dirt surface that can turn muddy after rain, a communal water station, poo bag dispensers with a composting bin, and park benches inside the enclosure for owners.

Getting there. About a 5 to 10 minute walk from Wolli Creek Station. Car parking is genuinely difficult, the on-site car park fills with rideshare drivers waiting for airport fares, so on-street parking on surrounding residential streets is usually the better bet, and it can be competitive too. The Cooks River walking and cycling path also runs straight past.

Nearby with the dogs. Where's Wolli Cafe sits right next door with a covered outdoor area and a view into the park, and Kals on Cahill is a short walk away on the riverbank, both happy to have your dog at an outdoor table afterwards.

Mornings from 7 to 9am and afternoons from 4 to 6:30pm are the busiest, especially on weekends. If your dog is shy or easily overwhelmed, a weekday mid-morning or mid-afternoon visit is a calmer bet, and there's no lighting on site so it's not the spot for a late-night run.
