Good Days Cafe on the Princes Highway in Tempe is a play cafe built for young families, with a contained Montessori-style play space for kids and a genuinely good menu for the adults minding them. Dogs are welcome outside while the kids are inside.

Good to know. The menu leans wholesome and a step up from standard cafe fare, think eggs benny, a wagyu sanga and proper coffee, so it is worth the visit even without kids in tow. Hours run Monday to Saturday 7am to 2.30pm and Sunday 8am to 2.30pm, with the kitchen closing half an hour before that. Weekend mornings get busy with the play cafe crowd, so a weekday visit is calmer if you want a table with your dog at your feet.

Getting there. The cafe is at 880 Princes Highway, Tempe, an easy walk from Tempe train station. Onsite parking is limited, so expect to use street parking along the highway or nearby side streets, which can fill up on weekends.

Nearby with the dogs. Sydney Park is a short drive away with plenty of open space and off-leash areas, and Tempe Recreation Reserve (home to the Tempe Dog Park) is close by for a proper run before or after coffee.
