Crystalbrook Albion

Crystalbrook Albion is a boutique hotel in a restored heritage building on Little Albion Street, Surry Hills, and it is one of the few inner-Sydney hotels that takes dogs and cats in dedicated rooms. If you want a city stay where the pet is a guest rather than an exception, this is the model: designated rooms, pet amenities supplied, and the suburb's parks and cafes all on foot.

Pets up to 20kg stay in the designated ground-floor Urban rooms, which have easy-care hardwood floors and direct outdoor access, a practical setup for late-night toilet runs. The pet fee is a flat 130 dollars per stay and covers amenities including a pet bed and bowls. Only select rooms take pets, and multiple pets are possible but worth confirming, so call the hotel before booking to make sure a pet-ready room is actually held for you. The hotel itself is small, with a rooftop, an honour bar and complimentary pastries, and reviewers rate the rooms quiet for such a central position.

Harmony Park is the closest off-leash option, a compact fenced pocket a few minutes' walk away, and Ward Park covers the morning loop on the other side of Bourke Street. Prince Alfred Park, southwest across Chalmers Street, has a large City of Sydney off-leash area where dogs run free on the central grass at all times. Reuben Hills on Albion Street is a short walk for specialty coffee with dogs welcome via the rear lane.
