Frog Hollow Reserve

Frog Hollow Reserve is a small, heritage-listed park on Riley Street at the corner of Albion Street, with a distinctive sunken layout set below high retaining brick walls. It is an off-leash area at all times, and the enclosed, below-street design makes it feel more contained than most inner-city parks.

The rules. The reserve is off-leash daily under City of Sydney rules, but dogs must stay under effective voice control and you must carry a leash. Bring your own waste bags, as on-site supplies are not reliably restocked. Signage can change, so check the gate notice on arrival.

What's there. There is bench seating around the perimeter and mature trees giving good pockets of shade in summer. There are no dog water bowls or bubblers on site, so bring your own portable water and bowl.

Getting there. It is a short walk off Crown Street and about 10 to 15 minutes from Central Station. Buses run along nearby Elizabeth Street. Street parking in Surry Hills is tightly timed, so read the signs carefully if driving.

Nearby with the dogs. Pieno and Paddock on Crown are both a short walk on Crown Street with dog-friendly outdoor seating, and Forrester's on Riley Street is close by.

Busiest on weekday mornings around 7:30 to 9am and late afternoons around 5 to 6:30pm. Weekends are steadier with more midday picnic traffic. Good for nervous or flighty dogs thanks to the enclosed layout.
