The Boathouse Balmoral Beach

The Boathouse Balmoral Beach sits right on the sand at the southern end of Balmoral, a busy, scenic spot for breakfast, brunch and lunch with the water in front of you. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables, which makes it an easy stop on a Balmoral promenade walk.

The dog setup. Dogs join you in the outdoor seating on the boardwalk side, not in the indoor dining room. Water bowls are usually available out front, and some of the beach wall has rings to clip a lead near the tables. Keep your dog leashed, since the promenade and beach edge are leash-only and the area gets crowded.

Good to know. The draw is the view and the beachside setting. The menu runs hearty cafe food, fish and chips, and a decent coffee, cocktail and wine list. It is genuinely busy on weekends, so a quiet weekday is far more dog-friendly in practice.

Getting there. 2 The Esplanade, Balmoral Beach. Parking is paid in the council beachside lots and on the street, and it gets very tight on weekends. Arrive before 10am or come on foot along the promenade.

Nearby with the dogs. The Balmoral promenade runs right past for a pre or post-coffee stroll, and the northern end toward Edwards Beach is popular with dog walkers. Leads on throughout.

Best as an early weekday visit for an outdoor table with space for the dog. Confirm outdoor seating is open on the day, as it can be reduced in poor weather.
