Mosman Off Leash Dog Area

Mosman Council runs a network of off-leash areas rather than a single fenced dog park, and the same time rules apply across them: dogs can run off-lead all day Monday to Friday, and on weekends and public holidays before 9am and after 4pm. Outside those windows, and in every other public space, dogs must be on lead. The pick of the bunch is Sirius Cove Reserve, a sheltered, sandy harbour beach, with Clifton Gardens and Rosherville Reserve offering grass, shade and harbour views.

The rules. Off-lead is the weekday default; on weekends and public holidays it is before 9am and after 4pm only. Dogs stay on lead in car parks and on the boardwalk down to Sirius Cove beach even during off-lead hours. Keep your dog under effective voice control at all times, bag and bin any waste, and stay clear of playgrounds and any area marked no dogs. Council rangers patrol and fines apply.

What's there. Facilities vary by reserve. Clifton Gardens and Rosherville have public toilets, picnic shelters, barbecues and a playground; Sirius Cove has taps and shade trees. Bins are provided, but bring your own water bowl rather than relying on a tap being close.

Getting there. Sirius Cove Road, Mosman, has a small car park at the end that fills quickly, then a steep walk down to the water. On weekends, arrive before about 8:30am to get a spot. Bus route 238 stops near Sirius Cove Road and Pindari Avenue, leaving a steep downhill walk in.

Nearby with the dogs. Cafe Monstera and The Deck at Grumpy's Wharf at nearby Mosman Bay both take dogs at their outdoor tables, and the Mosman Bay foreshore walk links the area.

Go mid-morning or mid-afternoon on a weekday for the quietest run; weekend mornings between 8 and 11 are the busiest. Good for water-loving dogs and reliable recall.
