The Manoush Spot Cafe

The Manoush Spot Cafe turns out Lebanese and Turkish style flatbreads from a small strip-shop at Shop 4, 36 Walder Road, Hammondville. Manoush fresh from the oven, pide, gozleme and Toby's Estate coffee make it a useful early stop in Sydney's south west, with footpath seating out the front that works for dogs.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor seating at the front of the shops, on lead and kept clear of the walkway. It is a typical strip-cafe layout rather than a venue with a fenced courtyard, so check with staff on the day if you need certainty, and bring your own water bowl as on-site water for dogs is not confirmed.

Worth knowing

The manoush is the point: zaatar, cheese, meat and cheese, and sucuk versions mostly in the six to sixteen dollar range, plus pide and gozleme for heartier appetites and simple breakfast rolls and wraps. Doors open from 6am on weekdays and 6:30am on weekends, which suits a pre-walk coffee run, and regulars single out the fresh-baked bread and welcoming staff.

Getting there and parking

Free street parking runs along Walder Road with a small parking area right in front of the shops, and it is flat, easy walking from the car to the tables.

Close by with the dogs

Lieutenant Cantello Reserve Fenced Dog Park is the local pick for an off-lead run, and The Shack at Moorebank Sports Club is another dog-friendly table in the suburb. Wattle Grove Community Dog Park is a short drive away if you want to extend the loop.

Max: a warm zaatar manoush at 6:30am then the fenced park before the school run is about as good as my mornings get.
