Observatory Hill Park

Observatory Hill Park sits high above Millers Point on Upper Fort Street, with Harbour Bridge views and open lawns that City of Sydney designates for off-leash dogs.

Off-leash rules

The park is a designated dog off-leash area, so dogs can run on the open lawns. Keep them under control on the paths around the historic buildings.

The views and the ground

Paved concrete and stone paths wind between wide lawns and large heritage trees, framing the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the working harbour and the 19th century Sydney Observatory.

Drinking water is on site, bins are easy to find, and the old trees give plenty of shade. Public toilets are near the Watson Road entrance off Argyle Street.

Getting there

Street parking around Millers Point and The Rocks is limited at busy times. Wynyard station is a short walk away and often the easier option.

Make a day of it

Munn Reserve is close by, and Rubber Ducky Cafe is a nearby coffee stop.

When to go

It is a social spot for local owners, so it suits dogs that enjoy company. The heavy shade makes it workable even on warm days.
