The setup. Rubber Ducky Cafe is a small lobby cafe tucked into 20 Windmill Street, a short stroll from the Millers Point waterfront, and dogs are welcome both inside and at the outdoor tables. Weekdays only, so plan around that if you are working a dog walk into a weekend visit.

Dog access. Staff are known for being relaxed about dogs indoors and out, though keep your dog leashed and settled given the small footprint of the space. A water bowl is often put out, but bring your own to be safe.

Known for. Good coffee, fresh breakfast and lunch, and a friendly, unfussy vibe that regulars come back for.

Getting there. Paid street parking is limited around Windmill Street and the rest of Millers Point. It is an easy walk from Barangaroo or Circular Quay.

When to go. Weekday mornings before the office crowd arrives are the calmest. Remember it is closed Saturday and Sunday, unlike most of the cafes nearby.

the walk down to the Walsh Bay waterfront afterwards is flat, shaded in parts, and easy on the paws.
