The Field at Easts Rugby

The Field at Easts Rugby is a sprawling grass-and-courtyard pub on the historic Woollahra Oval at 22a O'Sullivan Road, Rose Bay, and it is one of the most genuinely dog-friendly venues in Sydney's eastern suburbs. Dogs are welcome across the entire outdoor footprint, which is most of the site.

The dog setup

Dogs on lead are welcome throughout the outdoor and courtyard areas, with indoor seating reserved for humans under food safety rules. Communal water bowls sit around the lawn and staff hand out treats, and there is no fee for bringing a dog.

The venue FAQ recommends checking the schedule before big match days or private functions, when the ground gets busy and some areas close off.

The vibe

It is a backyard-style set-up with giant Jenga, Connect Four and ping pong on the lawn, classic pub food and a solid beer list. Family Fun Fridays bring live music and kids' activities, so weekend afternoons are lively rather than quiet.

Pepsi: this is the rare pub where the dog gets more floor space than the table. Pick a spot on the grass away from the lawn games and settle in.

Getting there and parking

The pub sits inside the golf club precinct, with street parking around O'Sullivan Road and paid parking servicing the parklands. Buses run along New South Head Road and it is roughly a 10 to 15 minute flat walk from Rose Bay Ferry Wharf.

While you are out there

Lyne Park is just down the road, with its main fields off lead daily between 3.30pm and 10.30am under Woollahra Council rules, and the Rose Bay foreshore adds an on-lead waterside stroll. For other dog-friendly tables, Collins Lane Cafe and Bar Doppio are both in the village.
