The Field at Easts Rugby is a sprawling, flat, grass-and-courtyard pub inside the Woollahra Golf Club precinct at Woollahra Oval, and it's one of the more genuinely dog-friendly pubs in Sydney's eastern suburbs, with dogs welcomed across the entire outdoor footprint.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome throughout the outdoor and courtyard areas on a leash, which covers most of the venue given how much of it is open grass and paving. Indoor seating is human-only under food safety rules, but with this much outdoor space you'll rarely need it. There's no fee for bringing a dog. Communal water bowls are set around the outdoor area and staff are known to hand out treats.

Known for. One of the largest outdoor spaces of any pub in the eastern suburbs, with giant Jenga, Connect Four and ping pong on the lawn. Family Fun Fridays bring live music, face painting and a jumping castle. The kitchen runs classic pub food and modern Australian dishes with a solid beer list, and the whole site sits on the historic Woollahra Oval, home ground of Easts Rugby.

Getting there. The venue is at 22 O'Sullivan Road, Rose Bay, tucked inside the golf club grounds. Street parking is available around O'Sullivan Road, with paid parking also servicing the surrounding parklands. It's a flat, stroller-and-paw-friendly walk from wherever you park. Local buses run along New South Head Road, and it's roughly a 10 to 15 minute walk from Rose Bay Ferry Wharf.

Nearby with the dogs. Lyne Park is just down the road, with its main fields off-leash daily between 3.30pm and 10.30am. The Rose Bay Foreshore, between Dumaresq Reserve and Percival Park, is designated off-leash at all times, per Woollahra Council, making it an easy add-on walk before or after the pub.

When to go. Family Fun Fridays get busy with kids and dogs both, so arrive early for a table if you want space on the lawn. Quieter weekday afternoons suit dogs that prefer less commotion. Check for rugby match days at the adjoining oval, which can pull bigger crowds.
