ELS Hall Park

ELS Hall Park in North Ryde is a fully fenced, double-gated off-leash area open 24/7, tucked beside the soccer fields on Kent Road. It's one of the better-equipped off-leash spots in the City of Ryde: shaded in parts, mostly flat, well lit, and busy with a regular crowd of local dogs.

The rules. Off-leash play is permitted only inside the fenced boundary. Dogs must be under effective voice control and return to their handler on command. Maximum four dogs per person. Dogs declared dangerous, restricted or aggressive under the NSW Companion Animals Act are not permitted on site.

What's there. Full perimeter fencing with a secure double-gated entry, picnic tables and benches, some shade trees, bins for waste, and a water tap (bring your own bowl to be safe). The wider park also has a playground, baseball fields, a basketball court and a skate park next door, so it works for a family outing as well as a dog walk.

Getting there. There's a free, shaded car park right next to the dog area on Kent Road, which makes this an easy one to drive to. By train, Macquarie Park and North Ryde stations are both a fifteen to twenty minute walk, or a short bus ride away. Several bus stops run along Kent Road itself.

Nearby with the dogs. The Picnic Market Cafe on Ryedale Road allows dogs at its outdoor tables and is a short drive or an easy fifteen minute walk. Cafes around Macquarie Centre also tend to allow dogs outdoors. For an overnight stay, Quest Macquarie Park and Meriton Suites Macquarie Park have both been used as pet-friendly options, but confirm pet policy and any fees directly when booking.

When to go. Weekday evenings and Saturday mornings are the social peak, good if your dog loves a big play group. For a calmer session, Tuesday mornings or Saturday nights are quieter. The good lighting also makes it a solid choice for an after-dark walk when other parks are empty.
