ELS Hall Park

ELS Hall Park in North Ryde has a fully fenced, double-gated off-leash area open 24/7, set beside the soccer fields on Kent Road. It is one of the better-equipped off-leash spots in the City of Ryde: shaded in parts, mostly flat, well lit, and busy with a regular crowd of local dogs.

The dog setup

Off-leash play is permitted only inside the fenced boundary. Dogs must be under effective voice control and return on command, with a maximum of four dogs per person, and dogs declared dangerous, restricted or aggressive under the NSW Companion Animals Act are not permitted on site.

Inside you get full perimeter fencing with the secure double-gated entry, picnic tables and benches, some shade trees, waste bins and a water tap, though bring your own bowl to be safe. The wider park adds a playground, baseball fields, a basketball court and sports ovals, all on-lead territory.

Expect the after-work and weekend-morning rush, with well-lit fencing making evening sessions practical in winter. The regulars are largely apartment-dwelling owners from the surrounding blocks, so turnover is steady rather than clannish. Getting there and parking

The park sits on Kent Road, North Ryde, with parking along the street and in the adjacent sportsground car parks. Bus routes along Kent and Epping roads put you within a short walk, and Macquarie Park station is a reasonable stroll for the fit.

The Ryde Park Fenced Dog Park and Olympic Dog Park cover the southern side of the LGA, and for a swim day the Meadowbank Dog Beach sits on the river nearby. Barista Brunch Bar is a handy coffee stop close to the park.
