Ryde Park Fenced Dog Park

Ryde Park Fenced Dog Park is a fully fenced off-leash area at 31 Blaxland Road, Ryde, set within the wider Ryde Park. Open around the clock and heavily used by locals, it pairs the secure enclosure with the rest of the park's set-up: sports ovals, a playground and a cafe overlooking the grass.

The dog setup

The enclosure is fully fenced with a double-gated entry, so arrivals and departures are low stress. City of Ryde rules apply inside: a competent handler supervises at all times, dogs return immediately on command, and there is a limit of four dogs per person. Dangerous or restricted dogs under the Companion Animals Act are not permitted, and waste comes out with you, with bag dispensers and bins on site. Keep your dog on lead until you are inside the fence.

Worth knowing

There is a water tap with a bowl, a sheltered table for shade and seating for handlers. The grass takes a beating from wet weather and heavy use, so expect worn patches at times. It is busiest on weekdays from 7 to 8.30am and again from 4.30 to 6pm, plus weekend mornings; mid-morning or after 7pm in summer is calmer and better for a timid dog that needs room to settle.

Getting there and parking

Street parking runs along Blaxland Road and the surrounding residential streets, with dedicated spots around Ryde Park. Bus stops on Blaxland Road are an easy walk, and Top Ryde Shopping Centre is a short drive for anything you forgot.

While you're out there

Sotto on Ryde sits at the park edge with outdoor seating overlooking the oval, so coffee after the run is a two-minute walk. The Meadowbank dog beach up the river is a good change of scene, and Olympic Dog Park is the other fenced option in the suburb.
