ELS Hall Park Fenced Dog Park

ELS Hall Park Fenced Dog Park in Marsfield is a large, fully enclosed off-leash area inside the broader ELS Hall Park complex. Its drawcard is the combination of size and security: genuine room to sprint and socialise, wrapped in a solid fence, with the wider park and its sports facilities all around it.

The dog setup

The enclosure is a big grassed space that actually allows running rather than standing-room play. Water bowls are provided, poop bags and bins are usually stocked on site, and seating for handlers includes an undercover area that shelters from sun or rain. Public restrooms sit within the wider park complex, and a large, free, dedicated car park is directly adjacent to the fence line, which makes loading an arthritic or car-phobic dog far easier than most city parks manage.

The rules: dogs must be supervised by a competent person and under effective control, returning on command, with a maximum of four dogs per person. Off-lead applies only inside the fenced zone, and dangerous or restricted dogs under the NSW Companion Animals Act 1998 are prohibited. Owners pick up and remove all waste.

Worth knowing

If your dog finds busy crowds confronting, aim for a weekday late morning or early afternoon; weekend mornings bring the regulars and their packs in force.

Getting there and parking

Access is via Kent Road, with Epping Road and the M2 close by for drivers and buses running along both Kent Road and Epping Road. The park is an easy walk from the surrounding Marsfield residential streets and from Macquarie University.

While you're out there

Because the dog park sits inside ELS Hall Park, there is plenty of scope for an on-lead lap beyond the fence. For coffee, The Dining & Co North Ryde is about 1.5km away with dog-friendly outdoor seating and water bowls, and the aptly named Chew Babe Pet Grooming Cafe at Macquarie Park doubles as a groomer.
