The Dining & Co North Ryde

The Dining & Co North Ryde is a residential-street brunch cafe at 11 Avon Road, and it punches well above its neighbourhood-shopfront setting - plates are finished with real kitchen care, and the outdoor tables out front are openly dog friendly. It has become the default coffee stop for Ryde dog owners, with more than a thousand Google reviews behind it.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the alfresco tables in front of the cafe; indoors stays people-only. Keep yours leashed and settled beside the table, and ask staff for water - a bowl usually comes out on request. There is no dedicated dog menu, so bring your own treats if your dog needs a bribe to sit through a leisurely brunch. Weekend mornings are busy and a short wait for an outdoor table is common, so time your visit accordingly.

The food

The kitchen runs a modern Australian breakfast and lunch menu with a fine-dining hand - corn fritters and brioche french toast are the brunch headliners, while the crab pasta, steak sandwich and calamari salad pull it well past standard cafe territory. Coffee is Campos, and the presentation is the thing people photograph. Hours are 7am to 4pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 4pm on weekends.

Where to walk before or after

One warning for newcomers: the nearby Field of Mars Reserve is a protected wildlife refuge and dogs are banned there outright, even on lead - keep your bushwalk ambitions elsewhere. The fenced run at ELS Hall Park is the closest off-lead option, and Ryde Park pairs neatly with Sotto on Ryde if you are café-hopping. Barista Brunch Bar on Twin Road is the quieter local backup.
