Queue A Bowl

Queue A Bowl occupies Unit G2/13 Putland Close, in the quiet industrial pocket of Kirrawee near Kirrawee High School, and it turns out to be one of the Sutherland Shire's better-kept breakfast secrets. The covered patio looks out toward bushland on the edge of the Royal National Park, the coffee is Danes Coffee Roasters, and the kitchen turns out brunch plates, sandwiches and fresh pastries. Dogs are welcomed in the outdoor seating, and the covered tables work in most weather.

Dogs are welcome across the outdoor patio, which is flat and easy to reach from Putland Close, a calm street where a dog can settle without traffic noise. Staff are known for being warm toward regulars and their dogs, though water bowls are not advertised, so bring your own. This is genuinely dog-first alfresco rather than a single token footpath table.

Worth knowing

The menu runs to an eye fillet steak sandwich with fries, a club sandwich with grilled chicken and prosciutto, kimchi-mayo chicken burgers, acai bowls and French toast, with an affogato for the finish. Hours are 7am to 3:30pm Tuesday to Friday and 8:30am to 3pm weekends, closed Mondays, so it is a breakfast-and-lunch venue. Parking on Putland Close is free and unmetered, and it is an easy turn off the Princes Highway or Garnet Road.

Helena Street Park Fenced Dog Park is in the same suburb for an off-leash run before breakfast, and the cafe's bushland outlook makes it a natural bookend to a walk on the northern edges of the Royal National Park (leash rules apply on national park tracks).
