What visitors mention
Helena Street Park is a fully fenced, off-leash dog park at Helena Street Reserve in Kirrawee, run by Sutherland Shire Council. The draw is the split layout, with separate fenced enclosures for large and small dogs, so you can match your dog to the right space.
The rules. Dogs can be off-leash only inside the fenced enclosure. Keep your dog on the lead as you enter and leave through the double gates. Restricted breeds and any dog declared dangerous or menacing are not permitted. The park backs onto homes, so council asks that you limit noise, particularly after 7pm.
What is there. The whole area is fully fenced with double-gated entry, and it is split into separate large-dog and small-dog sections. There is tree shade, a gazebo and seating for owners, plus water on site and bag-and-bin stations for cleanup.
Getting there. On-site parking is available, with additional street parking on the surrounding residential roads off Helena Street. The reserve is reached via the local streets off the Princes Highway.
The hours. The park is open long hours, from around 4:30am to 10:30pm, so it suits early risers and after-work runs. Note that council does occasionally close it temporarily for upgrades.

Nearby with the dogs. Several Kirrawee cafes near the station have outdoor seating and are a short drive from the park for a coffee afterwards. For a bed nearby, pet-friendly stays turn up in the surrounding suburbs like Gymea and Sutherland, so confirm the pet policy at booking.
Busiest early mornings, late afternoons and weekends. If you want a quieter run, aim for the middle of a weekday, and lean on the separate zones when it is crowded.
