Daily Dose is a corner espresso bar at 244 Wardell Road, directly opposite Dulwich Hill station, and dogs are welcome at the footpath tables out front. If you are moving through the Inner West by train or light rail, it is about the easiest quality-coffee stop with a dog in tow that you will find.

The dog setup

Dogs sit with you at the outdoor footpath seating right on the corner, watching the Wardell Road traffic go by. Staff have built a name for being warm to canine regulars, and the community feel is part of the draw. There is no standing water bowl service, so pack one for warm days. Indoors is people only.

Worth knowing

The coffee is the headline: smooth house roasts poured alongside a rotating cast of guest beans, with a proper decaf that gets named in reviews. The food side covers fresh breakfast and brunch plates with good vegetarian options at neighbourhood prices. Hours are 6am to 3pm weekdays and 7am to 2pm weekends, and the entrance is wheelchair accessible. Weekday mornings are calmer than the weekend rush, when the footpath fills with commuters and prams.

Getting there and parking

The train to Dulwich Hill station is the simplest way in, with the cafe directly opposite. Street parking on Wardell Road and the surrounding streets exists but gets tight on weekends.

Close by with the dogs

One stop toward the city, the fenced run at Sydenham Green sits by the station, and the Tempe dog park on the Cooks River is a short drive or a river-path ride away. For another coffee on the same postcode, Two Chaps is the Marrickville institution.
