Hotel Mosman

Hotel Mosman is a busy traditional pub at 634 Military Road in the heart of the Mosman strip on the Lower North Shore. Dogs are welcome on the upper outdoor terrace, which has its own balcony and garden outlook, so you can settle in for a proper pub meal rather than a quick coffee with the dog on the footpath.

The dog setup

Dogs join you in the upstairs outdoor terrace and balcony area, not the indoor bar and dining rooms. That upstairs terrace runs an adults-only policy, which keeps it quieter and well suited to a dog resting beside the table. Staff are accommodating and water is usually offered, but carry your own bowl and keep your dog on lead beside you.

Worth knowing

Classic pub fare is the draw: porterhouse, schnitzel, lamb shank and barramundi, with the kitchen serving late into the evening and a garden view over the historic Boronia House grounds. It is a popular booking, so a table on the terrace is not guaranteed at peak times.

Max: it is a full-on pub upstairs, music, foot traffic and the smell of the grill. Bring a dog that settles in a crowd, take the corner of the terrace, and skip it on a packed Friday night if yours is the nervous type.

Getting there

Street parking on Military Road and the side streets is limited and timed, so check signage carefully. The B1 and other Military Road buses stop close by, which is the easier option on a busy night.

The Mosman Off Leash Dog Area is nearby for a run before dinner, and the Balmoral Beach to The Spit walk makes a solid pre-pub leg stretch.
