What visitors mention
The Newport is a big Merivale pub right on Pittwater, with a coastal, relaxed feel and expansive outdoor space that makes it one of the more reliable dog-friendly pubs on the northern beaches.
The dog setup. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor courtyard and beer garden only. They're not permitted inside the pavilion, the pergola, the kiosk or the Arms Bar, so plan on an outdoor table from the start. A leash is required at all times, and while water bowls are usually out in the outdoor areas, it's worth bringing your own collapsible bowl as backup.
Good to know. The drawcard here is the view over Newport Bay, plus wood-fired pizzas, seafood and a mix of pub food stalls. There's live music, a ping pong table and a pool table if you're settling in for a while.
Getting there. The Newport is at 2 Kalinya St, Newport. There's an on-site car park, with further street parking on Kalinya Street and surrounding residential streets. Bus stops on Barrenjoey Road are within walking distance.
Nearby. Newport Beach is a short stroll away, Winnererremy Bay Park at Church Point is about ten minutes' drive for a proper dog-friendly park and cafe combo, and Rolfe Street Dog Park is close by for a quick off-leash run.

Weekday visits are quieter. Saturday and Sunday afternoons draw big crowds, so get there early for a courtyard table if you're coming with a dog that needs space.
