What visitors mention
Trail South Narrabeen covers the Wheeler Heights side of the Narrabeen Lagoon Trail, a mostly flat, paved loop around the lagoon that is popular with joggers and cyclists as much as dog walkers, and it stays on-leash the whole way.
The walk. A shared pedestrian and cycle path, mostly flat and sealed, running along the southern side of Narrabeen Lagoon between Wheeler Heights and Narrabeen. Good for an easy loop or an out-and-back from Bilarong Reserve.
Leash status. On-leash at all times, with a maximum of four dogs per person. Watch for fast-moving cyclists on the shared path and keep dogs clear of the mangroves to protect birdlife.
What's there. Water bubblers and dog bowls are dotted along the circuit, with waste bins at the main entrance points. Bilarong Reserve has picnic tables, toilets and a playground if you are making a morning of it.
Getting there. Drive in via Wakehurst Parkway or Pittwater Road and park at the Bilarong Reserve car park. Bus stops on Pittwater Road and Wakehurst Parkway are within walking distance, and the trail connects straight off residential streets in Wheeler Heights.

Nearby with the dogs. Cafes around Narrabeen and Birdwood Park have outdoor seating for dogs, and there are dog-friendly rentals around Narrabeen and Collaroy if you want to stay over.
Go before 8am or on a weekday for a quiet lap, weekend mornings between 9 and 11 draw heavy crowds. The path can get muddy after rain even though tides do not affect it.
