Progress Park

Progress Park runs along Mullet Creek in North Narrabeen, and it is one of the simplest off-leash calls on the Northern Beaches: Northern Beaches Council designates it a 24-hour off-leash area, with open grassy space, a creek for cooling off and no booking, fencing or time windows to negotiate.

The dog setup

Off-leash applies around the clock across the open parkland, with the area running from Jacksons Road in the north down along the creek line. There is no fencing anywhere, so this is a recall park: your dog needs solid voice control, especially near the shared paths where cyclists and walkers pass constantly and around the children's playground, which sits outside the off-leash zone. Waste bins and bag dispensers are provided, and Mullet Creek doubles as the swimming hole and the water bowl.

Max: unfenced, creekside, full of birds. If your dog bolts after wildlife or other dogs, the lead stays handy near the water's edge and the path.

The vibe

This is a well-used local walking route as much as a dog park, with a relaxed beachside-suburb feel. Weekend mornings fill quickly, so early starts get you the quieter grass. After heavy rain the creek edges turn to mud and the low ground can hold water, so expect a filthy dog or pick a drier day. It suits sociable dogs who love a swim and do not need a fence to stay close, and it is a natural warm-up for the Narrabeen Lagoon trails nearby.

Getting there and parking

The park sits between Mullet Creek and Garden Street in North Narrabeen, with street parking around Ocean Street and Garden Street that tightens up on weekends. Pittwater Road bus routes stop a short walk away, and the park connects easily on foot or bike to the lagoon circuit and the beach end of Narrabeen.

Close by with the dogs

The Narrabeen Lagoon Loop is the obvious extension for an on-lead leg-stretch around the water, and Griffith Park at Collaroy adds a dedicated fenced dog park option to the south. For coffee, Fuel Espresso and Girdlers Cafe in North Narrabeen both take dogs at their outdoor tables, and Lakehouse Cafe sits on the lagoon side.
