Fuel Espresso North Narrabeen

Fuel Espresso is a Mediterranean cafe and tapas bar on the corner of Garden Street in North Narrabeen, a few minutes' walk from Narrabeen Lagoon and under ten from the beach. It opens absurdly early, 5am on weekdays, which tells you the crowd: surfers and lagoon walkers fuelling up before the day starts, then lingering over shakshuka and strong coffee. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor street-side tables out front.

The dog setup

The outdoor seating out front is where dogs go, and staff are known to welcome them warmly, usually bringing a water bowl if you ask. The courtyard catches the morning sun, which suits the early crowd. Keep dogs leashed at the table; this spot gets lively, especially on weekend mornings, so arrive early if you want an outdoor table with room to settle.

The food

The menu leans Mediterranean from the first coffee: shakshuka, smoked salmon, Mediterranean breakfast boards and bacon and egg rolls early, then steak sandwiches, crispy calamari, grilled chorizo tapas and mezze platters through the day. Cocktails come from the bar, and live acoustic sessions pop up occasionally. Evening service appears in some listings on Friday and Saturday nights, but the reliable window is the early-to-afternoon trade, so check before planning a dinner visit.

Getting there and parking

The cafe sits at 54 Garden Street, North Narrabeen, with free on-site and on-street parking nearby. From the cafe it is a short walk west to the lagoon trailhead and five to seven minutes east on foot to Narrabeen Beach, which makes it the natural first or last stop on a lagoon circuit.

Close by with the dogs

The Narrabeen Lagoon loop is the headline walk, though dogs are on-lead only on the shared trail and barred from the wildlife protection zones around Berry and Middle Creek reserves. For off-lead time, Progress Park runs 24-hour off-lead with Mullet Creek water access, and the ocean beaches here are no-dog, so the park is where the fetch happens.
