Raby Bay Dog Beach at Cleveland and the Sandgate foreshore zone are the main saltwater options - both bayside, both calm-water. The Sunshine Coast's bigger surf beaches start an hour north.
Is the heat a problem for dogs?
April to October is dog season. Summer works with early mornings and shaded parks - Brisbane's fenced runs almost all have tree cover, which is the saving grace.
Can dogs use Brisbane's ferries and trains?
CityCat ferries are on-lead only for dogs, trains require a carrier. In practice: car for the beach days, feet for the suburb loops.
