Downfall Creek Dog Park

Downfall Creek Dog Park in Geebung is a large, leafy off-leash reserve on Brisbane's north side, built around a natural creek that runs through the site. At roughly four hectares of open grass, shaded tracks and creek frontage, it is one of the bigger unfenced off-leash spaces in the area and a genuine draw for dogs that love to swim and explore.

The rules. The whole reserve is off-leash, but it is not fenced, so dogs need reliable recall before you let them run free, especially near the road boundary and the creek banks. Keep direct control of your dog at all times and clean up after them; waste bags are usually stocked on-site but it pays to bring your own as a backup.

What's there. Mature trees give solid shade across most of the park, and there are benches and picnic shelters if you want to sit and watch the dogs play. Water taps and bowls are provided, along with waste bins scattered around the site. Public toilets are available nearby, close to Norths Juniors.

The creek. Downfall Creek itself is the highlight, a shallow spot most dogs can wade or swim in on a normal day. After heavy Queensland rain the water can rise and turn muddy fast, so check conditions before letting a dog straight in, and be ready for a rinse-off afterwards.

Getting there. The park sits at 59 Brickyard Road, Geebung. Geebung railway station is a short walk away, so it is workable without a car. Street parking near the park is generally manageable outside peak times.

Nearby with the dogs. Geebung has a couple of dog-friendly cafes close by for a coffee after the walk, including outdoor tables at Geebung Cafe & Takeaway and the alfresco area at The Cove Kitchen & Bar within the Geebung RSL.

Early mornings and late afternoons are the busiest times, particularly on weekends, though the size of the park means there is usually a quieter corner even when it's busy. Weekday mid-mornings are your best bet for a calmer run, and it is worth checking the creek level after rain before committing to a swim.
