Downfall Creek Dog Park

Downfall Creek Dog Park in Geebung is a large, leafy off-lead reserve on Brisbane's north side, at roughly four hectares one of the bigger unfenced off-leash spaces in the city. The natural creek that runs through it is the draw: dogs that love to swim get a proper session here.

The dog setup

The whole reserve is off lead under Brisbane City Council rules, but nothing is fenced, so reliable recall matters before you unclip, particularly near the road boundary and the creek banks. Keep your dog under effective control, carry a leash with you, and clean up after them; bags are usually stocked on site but bring your own as a backup.

Mature trees give solid shade across most of the park, and there are benches and picnic shelters to sit and watch. Water taps and bowls are provided, with waste bins spread around the site and public toilets nearby near Norths Juniors.

Max: check the creek before the dog checks the creek. After heavy rain the water rises and turns muddy fast, and you will want the towel in the car either way.

The creek

Downfall Creek runs shallow across most of the year, with slow sections where dogs wade and swim and the grassy banks give them an easy exit. It is the reason this reserve holds its reputation among northside owners, and it keeps the park usable even in the middle of a Brisbane summer.

Getting there and parking

The park sits at 59 Brickyard Road, Geebung, with street parking generally manageable outside peak times. Geebung railway station is a short walk away, and the Downfall Creek Bikeway passes through the corridor if you are arriving on foot or by bike.

Close by with the dogs

Brickyard Road Dog Park is in the same suburb for a fenced alternative, and Wavell Dog Off Leash Area at Wavell Heights is a compact neighbourhood option a few minutes south. Beams Road Park at Zillmere extends the run further north, and Geebung Cafe and Takeaway handles the post-swim coffee.
