Boyd Park Fenced Dog Park

Boyd Park Fenced Dog Park is a fully enclosed off-leash run on Boyd Road in Nundah, Brisbane's north side, and one of the few suburban dog parks where automatic lighting makes a before-dawn or after-dark run genuinely practical rather than a gamble.

The dog setup

The enclosure is fully fenced and grassed, with dedicated agility equipment, an on-site water station and shaded bench seating for owners. Off-leash applies inside the fence only: dogs on the surrounding paths and wider parklands stay on lead, owners remain inside the enclosure and supervise, and you clean up with your own bags. The park stays open around the clock and the lights come on at dusk, which suits shift workers and anyone squeezing the run around office hours. There is no separate small-dog pen, so read the crowd before letting a small or nervous dog loose, and the grass turns dusty and bare during dry spells.

Max: one gate, one run, the whole mix of dogs. If your dog reads as overwhelmed at the entry, wait five minutes for a lull instead of walking into a boisterous pack.

The vibe

This is a well-used neighbourhood park rather than a destination, with public toilets, a kids' playground, a half-court basketball setup and a 500-metre walking track around the oval. Weekday evenings from about 5pm to 7pm and weekend mornings from 7am to 10am are the busy windows, when the regulars and their dogs stack up; mid-morning weekdays are the quiet pick.

Getting there and parking

The park sits on Boyd Road just off Sandgate Road. Street parking runs along Boyd Road but gets competitive at peak times, so be prepared to walk in from surrounding streets. Nundah train station and the Sandgate Road buses put it within easy walking distance for locals without a car.

Close by with the dogs

Toombul Dog Park is the local alternative with its own agility ramps, Bradbury Park Fenced Dog Park at Kedron and the Wavell Dog Off Leash Area cover the suburbs north. For the post-run coffee, Fuel & Co and York Street Espresso Bar are both a short walk from the gate.
