Airway Motel

The Airway Motel is a budget three-star motel at 6 Lamington Ave in Ascot, a few minutes from Brisbane Airport and the Doomben rail line. It keeps a small number of designated pet friendly rooms, which makes it one of the cheaper ways to sleep near the airport without leaving your dog behind.

Pets are only permitted in specific pet friendly room types, such as the Pet Friendly Queen and the Pet Friendly Twin, so you need to book that room type rather than assume any room works. The motel asks that you flag your pet at the time of booking so a suitable room can be allocated. Worth knowing

Guest feedback consistently rates the beds as comfortable and the rooms as recently renovated, but also flags train noise in some rooms, so it is worth asking for a room away from the rail side when you book. The motel has an outdoor pool and free on-site parking, and Racecourse Road's cafes and shops are a short walk away.

Getting there and parking

Lamington Avenue runs off Kingsford Smith Drive, and the motel offers free parking on site, which is handy for early airport flights. Ascot station and the Airtrain corridor are both close by.

Close by with the dogs

Ascot Park Fenced Dog Park is roughly a ten minute walk away for off-lead time, and Hercules Street Park Fenced Dog Park in Hamilton is another fenced option nearby. For an on-lead river walk, the Bayswater and Ascot river trails follow the Brisbane River a few minutes' drive south.
