The place. This is a no-frills, clean motel pitched at short stays, transit passengers and racegoers, with Doomben Racecourse within walking distance. Some rooms have been renovated while others run more dated, and reviews are mixed on that front, so set expectations at budget-practical. On-site parking is available, and there is an intercom system for late arrivals; flag a late check-in ahead of time.

Location and nearby. Ascot Park Fenced Dog Park is close by for an off-leash run, and both Swalk Cafe and Vito's Cucina & Bar do dog-friendly breakfasts within a short drive. The leafy Ascot backstreets suit on-lead walks, and the Racecourse Road strip and Hamilton riverfront are minutes away.

Before you book. Pet rooms are limited and specific, so book early and confirm the dog directly with the motel rather than relying on a booking-site note. Best fit: a night either side of a flight, or a race-weekend base with a dog that settles easily in new rooms.
