Ascot Park Fenced Dog Park is a small fenced off-leash area on McGill Avenue, Ascot, tucked inside the larger Ascot Park. It is a local's park rather than a destination: a secure patch where nearby dogs get a quick run before work or after dinner, generally quiet and open at all hours.

The rules. Off-leash applies only inside the fence; dogs go on lead the moment you step outside it. Standard Brisbane City Council conditions apply: stay with your dog, keep effective voice control, remove aggressive dogs and pick up after your dog. There is one shared enclosure, so it is not the spot for dogs that need separation from bigger playmates.

What's there. A secure fenced perimeter with some shade, and the surrounding Ascot Park adds picnic tables and toilets. Do not count on a working dog water fountain; bring your own water and bowl, especially in summer.

Getting there. Street parking is available on McGill Avenue, reached off Nudgee Road. Doomben station on the Doomben line is a short walk away, which makes this one of the easier Brisbane dog parks to reach by train.

Nearby with the dogs. Swalk Cafe on Lancaster Road has its own small fenced dog patch beside the outdoor tables, and Vito's Cucina & Bar on Nudgee Road does dog-friendly Italian breakfasts. If you want separated small and large dog areas, Crosby Park Fenced Dog Park in Albion is a short drive. Staying in the area, Airway Motel takes dogs.

Late afternoon on weekdays and mid-morning on weekends are the busiest windows, though busy here still means a handful of dogs. The middle of a weekday is close to guaranteed solitude. Good for a quick, secure run; big runners will burn out the space fast and may want Crosby Park instead.
