Hercules Street Park Fenced Dog Park

Hercules Street Park packs a compact, fully fenced and well-lit off-leash dog area into a larger public park in the middle of Hamilton. It is the suburb's central fenced option, built for active dogs and genuinely useful after dark thanks to the lighting, which is rare for a park this size.

The dog setup

Dogs stay on-leash until they are inside the fenced enclosure. Once in, keep them in sight and under voice control, close the safety gates behind you, and pick up using the bags and bins provided. The fenced area includes agility equipment such as pipes, tunnels and ramps, dog water fountains, bench seating and a mix of grass and tree shade. The adjacent children's playground is off limits to dogs.

Max: the double safety gates only work if you actually latch them. Check the inner gate is shut before you unclip, especially when the park is busy.

Worth knowing

The wider park gives you more than the dog yard: toilets, a modern playground and grassy picnic fields, so it works for households mixing dog time with kids' time. Street parking on Hercules Street and nearby blocks can tighten up around school hours.

The address is 18 Hercules Street, Hamilton. Brisbane City Council buses run along nearby Kingsford Smith Drive, and the riverside path makes an easy approach on foot or by bike. By car, street parking is your main option.

While you're out there

Little Mickey's Cafe is a few doors up Hercules Street and very dog-friendly, and Yellowish is another local coffee stop. If you want a second fenced run on the circuit, Ascot Park's fenced dog park is nearby, and the Portside Wharf cafes a short walk away offer outdoor, dog-welcome seating.

When to go

Busiest stretches are early mornings and late afternoons on weekdays plus weekend mornings. Visit mid-morning or early afternoon for a quieter run, and use the lighting for an after-work session in the cooler months.
