Yellowish

Yellowish is a bright brunch cafe off Curtin Avenue East in Hamilton, in the riverside precinct near the Northshore reach, and it is genuinely set up for dogs rather than just tolerating them. The drawcard for owners is a small private artificial-grass area off the outdoor seating, so your dog has somewhere comfortable to settle while you eat.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome across the outdoor seating area, including the artificial-grass section that was put in with pets in mind. As with most Queensland cafes, dogs stay outside the indoor dining room under health rules. Water bowls are generally on hand, but bring your own if your dog is fussy. The grass patch makes this a good pick for social dogs who are happy around a brunch crowd, though on busy weekends it fills fast.

The vibe and the menu

The kitchen leans into creative brunch and specialty coffee, with the rendang benny and waffles the dishes regulars keep ordering, alongside potato croquettes, halloumi, nasi goreng and acai bowls. Hours run 7am to 2pm Tuesday to Saturday and 7:30am on Sunday, closed Monday, so it is a breakfast-and-lunch operation. Weekday mornings are the quiet window for a table on the grass.

Getting there and parking

The cafe sits in the commercial block off Racecourse Road, with parking in the surrounding streets, easier on weekday mornings than at the weekend brunch peak. The Brisbane River paths around Hamilton Reach are a good leg-stretch, and there are off-leash options close by: the Hamilton Dog Park and the fenced run at Old Shoreline Park both work before a coffee. Toti Co is another dog-friendly cafe in the suburb, and the river trails towards Ascot stretch the walk out properly.
