Quinns Street Park Fenced Dog Park

Quinns Street Park Fenced Dog Park sits at 216 Thynne Road in Balmoral, right beside the Balmoral Youth Space with its skate park and basketball court. It is a small, fully fenced, 24-hour off-leash run, more of a local drop-in spot than a destination, and it suits a quick lead-off session close to home.

The dog setup

Entry is through a double gate, so latch the first before you open the second. Dogs need to stay under voice or visual control, owners clean up straight away using the bins provided, and any dog showing aggression or constant barking should be removed immediately. Make sure your dog is registered and vaccinated before visiting. The yard has secure perimeter fencing, a few benches, and solar-powered lighting that makes early morning and evening visits workable. Water supply is not guaranteed here, so bring your own bowl and water.

Max: bring the water. This little yard has no reliable tap, and a 20 minute run on a Brisbane morning goes down better with a bowl waiting at the gate.

Worth knowing

Weekday mornings and evenings, roughly 5am to 7am and 4:30pm to 6:30pm, draw the regulars, along with weekend mornings. Weekday afternoons are quieter, which suits a nervous dog or one still working on recall. The ground can be uneven in patches, and locals have a reputation for being polite about park etiquette. Because the Youth Space sits alongside, expect skaters and basketballers sharing the precinct on arvo visits.

Getting there and parking

The park is at 216 Thynne Road, Balmoral, reached via Lytton Road or Hawthorne Road. There is a shared car park serving the precinct, including wheelchair-accessible bays near the entrance, and street parking along Thynne Road is easy. Brisbane City Council buses run along Wynnum Road, about a 10 to 15 minute walk away.
