Balmoral Bulimba Dog Park

Balmoral Bulimba Dog Park is a fully fenced, riverside off-leash area on Quay Street in Bulimba Riverside Park, right on the Brisbane River. At over two hectares with separate sections for small and large dogs, it is one of the bigger fenced runs in the inner east, and the river breeze makes it a genuinely pleasant place to spend an hour.

The rules. Dogs can run off-leash only within the fenced area itself. Keep your dog under voice control, pick up after them using the bins provided, and double-check the entry gates close behind you, since it is a double-gate system for security. Remove a dog from the park if it is showing aggression.

What's there. The park is fully fenced with separate zones for small and large dogs, a water fountain, benches, some shelter, and decent lighting for evening visits. The ground is flat and grassy, generally wheelchair accessible, though shade is only moderate, so bring water on hot afternoons and expect mud after heavy rain.

Getting there. The park is on Quay Street, Bulimba, a short walk from the Oxford Street shops and cafes. Street parking nearby fills up on weekends. The Bulimba Ferry Terminal (CityCat) is an easy stroll away, and local buses run along Oxford Street.

Nearby with the dogs. Oxford Street's cafe strip is a few minutes' walk for a coffee after the park, and pet-friendly holiday rentals are common across Bulimba, Balmoral and Hawthorne if you are visiting from out of town.

When to go. Afternoons and weekends are the busiest window; mid-morning on a weekday is calmer if your dog prefers less commotion. Good for social dogs that like a proper run and a splash of river air.
