Balmoral Bulimba Dog Park

Balmoral Bulimba Dog Park is a fully fenced, riverside off-leash area on Quay Street in Bulimba Riverside Park, right on the Brisbane River. At over two hectares with separate sections for small and large dogs, it is one of the bigger fenced runs in Brisbane's inner east.

The dog setup

Dogs can run off lead only inside the fenced enclosures and must stay on lead through the rest of the riverside park and walkways. Match your dog to the right zone, keep them under voice control while you stay in the enclosure, and leash up and leave if aggression shows.

Entry runs through a double-gate system, so check both gates latch behind you. Waste bins are provided, and council guidance asks owners to step in early on rough play and persistent barking.

The vibe

The ground is flat and grassy and generally wheelchair friendly, with a water bubbler and taps near the enclosures, benches, some shelter and lighting for evening visits. The river breeze makes hot afternoons workable, though shade is only moderate and the ground can go muddy after heavy rain.

Around the wider park precinct you will find a shaded playground, electric barbecues, picnic seating and paths with views across the water to Teneriffe, so the trip works for mixed groups of humans and dogs.

Getting there

The enclosure sits on Quay Street, with car parking in the precinct mainly off Addison Avenue, and it fills quickly on weekends and warm afternoons. The Bulimba CityCat terminal is an easy stroll, buses run along Oxford Street, and the Oxford Street shops and cafes are a short walk away.

Make a day of it

Oxford Street's cafe strip is close enough for a coffee after the run, and Willow Cafe in Balmoral is another dog-friendly stop in the same pocket of the inner east.
