Kalinga Park Fenced Dog Park

Kalinga Park Fenced Dog Park is a large, fully enclosed off-leash area covering over two hectares at 61 Bertha Street in Kalinga, in Brisbane's inner-north. Its defining draw is direct access to the Kedron Brook walking and riding path, so a fenced play session connects straight onto kilometres of creekside walking.

The dog setup

The enclosure is fully fenced with large, flat playing fields and mature trees for shade, and separate areas for small and large breeds keep play manageable. Water fountains and bubblers, shaded benches and shelters, waste bags and bins, and basic agility equipment are all provided, and evening lighting stretches the usable hours.

Brisbane council rules apply: dogs off lead must be under effective control, responding to commands and not rushing other dogs, and children need supervising while play carries on around them. Pick up after your dog and use the bins provided.

Worth knowing

Weekday mid-mornings and early afternoons are calmest, with the most open space; weekday mornings and evenings fill with commuters and weekend mornings draw big crowds. Spring and autumn are the best seasons, and in summer aim for early morning or after sunset when the lighting is on.

Max: grassy sections can get overgrown or muddy after rain, so check for maintenance updates if it has been wet before you make the trip.

Getting there and parking

Parking is via Bertha Street or Kalinga Street, with bus stops on Sandgate Road and Clayfield train station a short walk away. On foot or by bike, the park connects directly to the Kedron Brook Bikeway. If you extend the outing along the brook afterwards, bring water for the walk home.

While you're out there

The brook path suits an on-lead cool-down after the fenced run, and the tree cover along the creek keeps it comfortable even on warmer days. Link a couple of kilometres of bikeway onto your visit and most dogs go home properly tired.

Wandering Bull Espresso in Clayfield is an easy stop near the station for a post-play coffee, and Fuel & Co in Nundah has a relaxed dog-friendly courtyard a short trip away. If you want another fenced option, Boyd Park at Nundah is nearby along the brook.
