Toombul Dog Park

Toombul Dog Park sits inside Albert Bishop Park, accessed off Hedley Avenue in Nundah on Brisbane's inner north. It is a compact, fully fenced grassy enclosure open around the clock, which makes it the quick-run option for locals near the Kedron Brook floodplain rather than a destination park for the afternoon.

The dog setup

Inside the fence, Brisbane City Council's off-leash rules apply: dogs under effective voice or signal control, a leash carried at all times, cleanup on you, and any dog showing aggression leashed and taken out. The surrounding footpaths and streets along Hedley Avenue are on-lead territory. The enclosure has gated entry, seating and shade trees, and there are agility ramps and obstacles for dogs that like a task between wrestles. A water tap serves the park. One gap to plan around: there is no separate small-dog or puppy section here, so if your dog is tiny or timid, aim for the quiet stretches.

Worth knowing

Because the fenced run is on the smaller side, big groups of regulars can change the feel quickly. Mid-morning to early afternoon is the calm window; weekend mornings and weekday evenings after work are the busy ones. If a dedicated small-dog area matters, Tuckeroo Park Fenced Dog Park at Nudgee Beach is the nearby alternative with segregated zones. The wider Albert Bishop Park precinct has playgrounds, basketball courts and electric BBQs if the household splits between species.

Getting there and parking

Access is off Hedley Avenue, reached easily from Sandgate Road and the Gateway Motorway, with street and small car park options nearby. The Nundah Village strip with its footpath-seating cafes is a couple of minutes away.
