Tuckeroo Park Fenced Dog Park

Tuckeroo Park is a fenced, grassy off-leash dog park at the end of Nudgee Road in Nudgee Beach, about 20 to 25 minutes north of the Brisbane CBD. What sets it apart is the combination: a secure fenced yard for a warm-up, then an open door onto the sandy tidal flats of Kedron Brook for swimming and running.

The rules

The fenced section is fully off-leash, but the moment you step through to the beach and mudflats you are in an open tidal waterway, so recall matters even after a fenced start. Keep dogs inside the marked off-leash boundary, because the surrounding wetlands are migratory bird habitat, and carry your own waste bags as a backup even though bins are provided.

The water

This is a tidal creek mouth, not a still lagoon, and the tide changes the whole visit. Low tide exposes wide sand flats that are ideal for running and shallow paddling. High tide brings deeper water for confident swimmers but shrinks the beach and can cut a channel between your dog and the shore, so check tide times before you go.

Pepsi: low tide is the move if your dog likes to properly stretch their legs. All that open sand plus a shallow paddle is about as good as it gets.

What is there

Inside the fence you get agility equipment, water fountains for dogs and people, picnic tables and shaded spots. The gravel car park off Nudgee Road is free and fills fast on weekend mornings, and a coffee van is often parked on site on busier days. There have been reported shark sightings near the creek mouth at high tide, so treat deep water with caution, and the flats get genuinely muddy at low tide, which means a towel and a spare lead for the trip home.

Getting there and parking

Drive in via Nudgee Road; public transport is thin this far out, so the car is the practical option. The car park and entry are wheelchair accessible.

Close by with the dogs

Brizzy Bites is a short hop away at O'Quinn Street for post-swim coffee and fish and chips. If you want a second fenced run, Nudgee Recreation Reserve in Banyo and Nudgee Waterhole Reserve are both nearby.
