Nudgee Recreation Reserve is a fully fenced, off-leash dog park on Elliott Road, a quiet inland alternative to the busier Nudgee Beach dog areas. It is a single large grassed enclosure suited to all sizes, with shade and a double-gated entry - a calm option for anxious dogs or solo training.

The rules. Dogs run off-leash inside the fenced area, and owners must stay with their dog and keep voice control at all times. Close the double gates behind you on the way in and out. Pick up after your dog - waste bags and bins are provided. Leash and remove any dog that becomes aggressive.

What's there. Secure perimeter fencing, a water tap with a bowl, a covered shelter with a table plus an open seat, a bag dispenser and bins. There is usually plenty of parking in the reserve car park.

Getting there. The park is off Elliott Road, Nudgee, easy to reach by car and close to the M1. Nudgee railway station is roughly 5 to 10 minutes away by car, though the walk from the station takes 15 to 20 minutes, so driving is simplest.

Nearby with the dogs. Banyo village is about 5 to 7 minutes away and has several dog-friendly cafés with outdoor seating for a post-park coffee.

The double gate only works if you use it properly - latch the first gate before opening the second so no one slips out.

It is generally quiet, with the busiest times on weekend mornings and weekday evenings as locals arrive after work. Come mid-morning on a weekday for the calmest run.
