Brizzy Bites

Brizzy Bites is the classic takeaway shop at 88 O'Quinn Street in Nudgee Beach, and for dog owners the maths is simple: burgers, fish and chips and barista coffee at a shop that sits minutes from the foreshore and a fenced dog park. Order at the counter, take a seat out the front, or walk the bag down to the water.

The dog setup

Dogs belong outside here. The casual seating out the front is where you and your leashed dog settle, and the inside counter area is for ordering. There is no formal water station guaranteed, so pack a bowl, though most dogs here are too busy eyeing the chips to care. The crowd skews heavily towards dog walkers because of the location, so a friendly dog under the table fits right in.

The vibe

Nostalgic corner-shop takeaway done properly: freshly cooked fish and chips, calamari, crunchy fish bites, steak burgers, loaded hot dogs, thick milkshakes and a bacon and egg roll worth the drive. The staff are easygoing and portions run generous. The shop trades from 7am to 6pm, but closing days have shifted between listings before, so a quick check before you drive out is smart.

Getting there and parking

Street parking runs along O'Quinn Street and the surrounding residential blocks, reached via the main road into the Nudgee Beach recreation area. It is a quiet strip, so parking is rarely the hard part.

The Tuckeroo Park fenced dog park is the secure off-leash session before lunch, and the foreshore paths suit a leashed stroll.
