Chermside Dog Park

Chermside Dog Park is a large, fully fenced off-leash park on the edge of 7th Brigade Park, on the Chermside-Geebung border, and the draw is the split layout: a separate small-dog and puppy pen alongside a big open run for everyone else, so timid dogs are not stuck sharing space with boisterous ones.

The rules

Keep your dog leashed until you are inside the fenced area, then it is off-leash under effective voice control. Large dogs stay out of the small-dog pen, and any dog showing aggression or non-stop barking needs to come out and go back on lead. Clean up after your dog, and make sure yours is registered and vaccinated before it mixes with the pack. Outside the enclosure, the rest of 7th Brigade Park is on-lead.

The vibe

Double-gated entry, water fountains with bowls, seating for owners and basic agility gear give it the working essentials, and the fenced run is lit at night, which makes it a genuine after-work option through winter. Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons are the busiest slots; a mid-week morning is the calmest. The park is big enough that a nervous dog can find a quieter corner in the peripheral grass away from the main scrum.

Max: the lighting is the real edge here. If you can only get out after dark on a weeknight, the lit run means you are not fumbling around an unlit paddock.

Getting there and parking

Access is off Beor Street, Chermside, with free parking on the surrounding streets and in the nearby 7th Brigade Park bays. Bus stops along Hamilton Road are only a short walk away, and the park sits handily between Gympie Road and Murphy Road for northside drivers. It is open around the clock, every day.
