Kroll Gardens Fenced Dog Park

Kroll Gardens is one of the largest fully fenced off-leash dog parks on the Redcliffe Peninsula, covering around five hectares at 257 Duffield Road, Clontarf, under City of Moreton Bay. For dogs that need real room to open up, this is the local benchmark: a football-field-sized main run, wooded sections for shade, and a separate fenced enclosure for small or timid dogs.

The dog setup

The whole off-leash area is fenced, so dogs can run free once you are inside and the gate is shut; check it closes behind you each time. Council rules still require effective control, meaning your dog stays in sight and returns reliably to your voice, and dogs must be leashed outside the fenced zones such as the car park. Bag dispensers sit near the entrance, but carry a backup. Take any dog showing aggression straight out, and use the separate small-dog enclosure if your dog wants a calmer session.

An agility course near the Duffield Road entrance adds tyres, ramps and pipes for structured play. Water points, benches and shaded spots cover the comfort basics, and there are public toilets and a free gravel car park beside the off-leash area with accessible parking and entry.

Pepsi: five hectares of fenced grass and an agility course is the one to bring a proper ball thrower to. Pace yourself, because I will not.

Getting there and parking

Access is directly off Duffield Road, next to the waste transfer station, with the gravel car park adjoining the park. TransLink buses run along the nearby arterials such as Oxley Avenue, but a car or a local walk is the realistic way in. The park is open 24 hours.

The vibe

Weekend mornings, roughly 8 to 10am, are the busiest and most social windows; weekday mornings and late afternoons are quieter. Because the space is so large, it does not feel crowded even when it is busy. The ground turns muddy after heavy rain, so keep a towel in the car.

Close by with the dogs

For a swim to finish the outing, The Artemis Dog Beach Strip on Hornibrook Esplanade is a short drive away. For coffee, Puk Espresso and Bramble Bay General are both on the esplanade with the dog-friendly outdoor options.
